The Fountain

I saw the Fountain tonight and I am only beginning to grasp the full meaning of the film. This film has taken many of the ideas that I have picked up over the last three years about the nature of the Universe and melded them into one interwoven tapestry that contains the majority of a beautiful image but requires the observer to make his/her own leap of Creation to complete it. The film incorporated reincarnation, a cyclical version of time as opposed to our linear standard, spiritual yoga, Mayan beliefs, God in a universal sense as opposed to the standard religious view and that everything we experience has a purpose that we must discover by letting go of our obsessions and fears. I have no idea how Aronofsky managed to fit all of these ideas into one film that is more art and allegory than your typically linear Hollywood movie. Lastly I will leave you with an idea presented in the film that was taken from Mayan beliefs that I found mesmerizing in its grander sense...
Death is the Road to Awe.
Awe. When was the last time that I experienced true awe? A good question, I think, to ponder as I relax myself into the Dreamworld.
